MySims Kingdom

MySims Kingdom Review

My two (then) 2nd graders and a Pre-K kid all loved playing this game. The readers could read the instructions for the then preschooler (now K) and they were perfecting their skills at their early reading level. That is what I liked about it.

They liked exploring and building, "talking" (in game-speak gibberish) to others, pretending, solving, sailing, cooking, and earning materials and color schemes they could organize any way they liked using their wandolier (a bonafied magic wand!). I noticed they sometimes didn't follow the clues of the game at all because they could plant trees, rearrange existing houses, and go to the disco (after they'd found the materials to build it) or the pizza kitchen (or several other lands) as they pleased.

I think one appeal of this game for a younger kid is they fully control the game play and one game might be following directions and solving a building puzzle to unlock more clues or gain more items, but another time they might just do as they pleased by wandering or choosing to spend time solely as each pleased. I could see the appeal of making all your own decisions, going where you wanted, really having control of your own destiny and decisions -- which kids don't have in real life! That alone seemed addictive to the kids.

All three of my kids played some sessions where they accomplished little. But eventually they did build castles, fix waterways, dodge ghosts (not scary ones), sail the seas, and help King Roland fix up the kingdom. All tasks and clues are written so a reading person is necessary. I'd say about a 1st grade level is necessary, perhaps 2nd grade is easier though. But my pre_k kid didn't even care about the clues. He just liked wandering around, entering castles or climing fences and interacting with the enviroment as he desired.

Dad and the two older kids did eventually complete the game but it took several sessions (more than 20 each??) and added facinating hours of fun! We are shopping now for the next Sims game to continue on our journeys!

This is a game that can only be played one at a time. We were a little disappointed at first until we caught onto how fun the game was for one person and we often used the Wii-time-alone games as rewards for homework done, or kids dressed on time for school. We had to segement out time for these rewards each of our kids loved! It also was a little slow going getting used to the format and sequence of events. But with a little practice, it became infectious!

My three sons (11, 6 and 4) enjoy playing this game. I think that maybe the oldest one is maybe too old for this, and the one who enjoys it the most is the middle one - 6-years old. In any case, it can keep them concentrated for longer periods of time. Good for all boys (and girls maybe ) who are into Ben 10!

100 Classic Books Review

I bought a copy of this in a popular video game retailer, after it was my car. I love to read, and has much to gain from the classic works of literature. I started this project a few years ago, but due to financial needs.

Imagine my surprise when I found this game (if you want to call it that) during navigation to the puzzle and casual games (Tetris, Bejeweled, Mahjongg, etc.) for Nintendo DS. After I got my car, Idecided to go to a dealer for some other games, and found these available. I decided to go ahead a grab there.

I found the interface very simple. You can browse all the titles, scrolling back and forth until you find one you like. You can also track undecided by genre, author, reading level or more, take a short quiz to help you find the right book for the mood you're in. The music is veryRelax, and do not interfere with your reading. If you stop reading, you can create a bookmark to turn off the system and remove the cartridge, if you want to play a game. All data will be stored on the tape. When you return to the game, you will be asked if you want to pick up where you want to have ceased.

The biggest drawback that I find the game has already been said: If the DS, DS Lite, DS Lite or the screen shows only a few sentences at a time. WithThe DSi will have two screens show the book, so it can be read almost like a real book. Another disadvantage was someone pointed out that with the stylus on the touch screen to reverse the trend, and the fear of the touch screen is running out fast, knowing that the only time I used the pen the game from the main menu of the DS is to choose and use the game menu. To navigate through the book that I have up and down keys, which is turning the DS sideways, isright and left. You just need to use the stylus and touch screen when the game menu, for example by adding a bookmark in the book we read, or used for other functions.

All in all I recommend this game to all those who read, as they really wanted to gather a lot of classics, but I do not want to spend too much money with it. A major advantage of some of the classics of this game are no longer in print or in print, but not many people want in a format. II prefer hardcover books for all my classics, and all the books in general. Some I had to pay more than $ 100 just to have a hardcover edition, or go on eBay and a bidding war. Here there is no need to worry.

Lovely Lisa Review

I did not know this game for my daughter 3YR old if you would be able to play! It is by far his favorite DS game ever played! SHE takes longer than ANY game has ever had. I had to show them how to come to some parts of the game, They CAN NOT win because of the activities can not yet read. But still everything to play in any way even if you get no money for operations that can not win. He just really enjoyed particularly the section where you can dressLISA and buy new clothes. I hope that the games have a good future LISA!
